Welcome to the Fenn Cape Point ChallengePaddle along this beautiful section of coastline starting from Scarbrough and into the waters of the Cape Point Nature Reserve, past Olifantsbos, Platboom, The Cape of Good Hope and the dreaded Southwestern Reefs around Cape Point, the South Western most point of the African Continent . Where rugged rocks and sheer cliffs tower more than 200 metres above the sea, cutting deep into the ocean, providing a spectacular backdrop, and into the quiet waters of Fase Bay, past the old stop Buffles Bay on to Millers Point, with any luck surf the runs home to Fish Hoek on the famous Millers Runs Course. All this provides a spectacular setting for the Fenn Cape Point Challenge Surfski Race with the prize money totalling R130 000.00.
The Fenn Cape Point Challenge, better known as the most grueling one day surf ski race of the year, never fails to live up to its reputation. From the racing snakes up front to the "Fish & Chips" eager just to complete the Challenge of paddling around Cape Point, the months of training, blood, sweat and tears during the race is more than made up for by the unequalled camaraderie between the competitors and the war stories shared once reaching the finish at Fish Hoek Life Saving Club and the now legendary after party. |
